Accelero™ CAMEL API
Accelero™ CAMEL API Datasheet
CAMEL - Customized Applications for Mobile Network Enhanced Logic (GSM 09.78) - allows roaming subscribers access to their full portfolio of IN services. CAMEL GSM phase 2+ connects the home and visited mobile networks to various Intelligent Network (IN) platforms used throughout national networks to provide features such as Pre-Paid Calling, Personal Numbering and more complex location dependent services. As a result, CAMEL is a relatively inexpensive method of allowing telecom operators to add new services to the existing network infrastructure. The CAMEL architecture provides great flexibility and overall lower costs to develop and deploy services.
Accelero™ CAMEL APIs are a tier of convenient functions for developing applications employing CAMEL phases 1 through the most recent 3GPP. Phase 1 & 2 CAMEL APIs have been developed based on ETSI recommendation TS 101 046 (V7.0.0) and enables:
- Applications located at existing IN platforms such as SCP and SSP to bind to emerging wireless requirements
- Fresh and Turnkey solutions to be developed in time- and cost-effective manner for converging wireless and wired IN
Phase 3 CAMEL APIs are based on ETSI recommendation TS 129 078 (V3.3.0). It finds widespread applicability in developing cutting-edge technology applications for next generation networks converging Phase 2+ GSM/UMTS/CAMEL. In particular, this will be suited for:
- Provisioning value added wireless solutions such as SMS over conventional IN
- Extending the advantages of IN to newer packet technologies such as GPRS for more efficient and sophisticated services
Phase 4 CAMEL APIs simplify the development of the CAMEL-based services. Phase 4 CAMEL allows a host of new capabilities and features including interactions with Optimal Routing, CAMEL control over MT SMS (Mobile Terminated-Short Message Service), and the provision of location information of the called subscriber.
