WiMAX ASN
From a technology that was originally seen as providing a cost-effective long-range backhaul to wireless networks, WiMAX has emerged as being a strong contender for 4G mobile networks. With an increased focus on the emergence of 802.16e implementations, the features of portability and nomadicity are now giving way to mobility.
While most WiMAX base stations do provide a form of IP mobility, true features of inter-base station handoff or converging WiMAX seamlessly to the cellular Core Service Network is still a challenge without an Access Service Network (ASN) Gateway.
IntelliNet has been helping its partners extend their base station capability set with an Accelero based gateway which can add the mobility function in their offering. We expect these solutions to go into trials next year.
